Recognizing the Need for Help
Realizing that you or someone you love needs help is always the first step to success. This realization may come in a variety of ways. For example, a parent may recognize that she can no longer deny that her child is struggling. Another parent may have an accurate diagnosis for his child, but recognize the need for additional support to address specific skill weaknesses. Or a teacher, knowledgeable about learning and attention differences, may recommend that one of her students be evaluated for a learning disability. An adult may suspect that he has ADHD and want professional input and guidance. In whatever way you take this first step, congratulate yourself.
